EMDR at Inner Wave
Heal the past. Reclaim the future.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help people process and heal from traumatic experiences, distressing memories, or overwhelming emotions.
At Inner Wave, EMDR is offered by Nareh Nazari, LMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist with advanced training in trauma-informed care.
How EMDR Works
When we experience trauma or highly stressful events, those memories can become "stuck" in the brain. EMDR helps the brain reprocess those memories using bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements or tapping), allowing you to integrate and release what once felt overwhelming.
It's not hypnosis, and you are always in control. EMDR simply helps your brain do what it naturally does—heal.

EMDR Can Help With:
PTSD and complex trauma
Childhood abuse or neglect
Anxiety and panic
Grief and loss
Phobias and performance anxiety
Chronic shame or low self-worth
Disturbing memories that won’t fade
FAQs About EMDR
Is EMDR right for me?
If you feel “stuck” in past pain, intense anxiety, or emotional patterns that don’t match your current life, EMDR may be helpful.
Will I have to talk about every detail of my trauma?
Not at all. EMDR focuses more on how you feel than what you say. You don’t need to relive or retell the whole story.
How long does it take?
Some people experience relief in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term EMDR work depending on their goals and history.
